Host Responsibility
Kauri Gateway is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests. Our Host Responsibility programme operates in accordance with the Gambling Act 2003.
Our Commitment
Kauri Gateway takes its Host Responsibility obligations seriously. We are dedicated to promoting responsible gaming and ensuring that our casino hall remains a safe, welcoming and enjoyable entertainment environment for all guests.
Our Host Responsibility programme is designed to minimise gambling harm and support guests who may be affected by problem gambling. All casino hall staff are trained to recognise signs of gambling harm and to respond with care and discretion.
Age Verification
Access to the casino hall at Kauri Gateway is restricted to adults aged 20 and over, in accordance with the Gambling Act 2003 (s.303). All guests are required to present valid photo identification before entering the casino gaming area.
Accepted forms of identification include:
- New Zealand passport
- International passport
- New Zealand driver licence
- Kiwi Access Card
Self-Exclusion
Kauri Gateway supports voluntary self-exclusion. If you feel that gambling is no longer enjoyable or is having a negative impact on your life, you can request to be excluded from the casino hall.
To arrange self-exclusion, please speak confidentially with any member of our casino hall team or contact the hotel directly. All requests are handled with discretion and respect.
Recognising Problem Gambling
Gambling should always be an enjoyable form of entertainment. If you recognise any of the following signs in yourself or someone you know, we encourage you to seek support:
- Spending more time or money on gambling than you can comfortably afford
- Chasing losses or trying to recoup money already spent
- Feeling anxious, stressed or irritable when not gambling
- Neglecting responsibilities, relationships or personal wellbeing because of gambling
- Being untruthful about the amount of time or money spent gambling
- Borrowing money or selling belongings to fund gambling
Staff Training
All Kauri Gateway casino hall staff are trained in responsible gaming practices. Our team is equipped to identify signs of problem gambling and to approach guests with care and sensitivity. Staff members can provide information about support services and assist with self-exclusion requests at any time.
Responsible Gaming Practices
We encourage all casino hall guests to keep gaming enjoyable by following these simple practices:
- Set a time limit and a budget before you begin, and stick to both
- Treat gambling as entertainment, not as a way to make money
- Take regular breaks and step away from the gaming floor
- Do not chase losses — if you have reached your limit, stop
- Avoid gambling when feeling stressed, upset or under the influence of alcohol
- Ask our staff for help at any time — they are here to support you
